Overview:
The Critical Care Transport (CCT) manager is responsible for assisting with leadership in the respective departments.

The manager must be able to complete job specific orientation, competencies and meet and/or exceed standards as identified below through a yearly performance review.


Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate systems and programs towards the provision of quality services with Critical Care Transport department.
  • Collaborates with Medical Directors, Director, and other members of the team within the CCT department.
  • Actively participate in the development of business plan and outreach for the CCT department.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of critical care/emergency medicine, business development, marketing and planning.
  • Strong problemsolving abilities in complex situations.
  • Experience with process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement management principles and practices.
  • Develops implements, evaluates, and enforces department and system policies, procedures and necessary protocols to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and accreditation organizations.
  • Must possess strong relationship skills with a variety of internal and external contact relationships including physicians, nurses, instructors, EMS providers, and external stakeholders/organizations.
  • Experience in areas of scheduling and providing oversight for daytoday operations within the CCT department.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Able to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and groups through compassion, creativity, and consistent visibility.
  • Support the coordination of budget preparation, determining purchasing priorities, and making capital expenditure recommendations to the Director of EMS.
  • Participates in and leads hospital and department committees
  • Perform related duties based on departmental and organizational need.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree required. Masters degree preferred.
Must be familiar with the workings of out-of-hospital emergency care (EMS), the emergency department, trauma services and critical care.

Previous experience in both out-of-hospital and in-hospital emergency care, strongly preferred


CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE.

Illinois, and Wisconsin state licensure as RN or Paramedic

Iowa state licensure as RN or Paramedic within 6 months of hire

Paramedic applicants

  • National Registry Required.
Paramedic applicants

  • Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement Required upon hire.
Illinois PHRN licensure obtained within 1 year of hire.

Certified Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN) required within (2) two years of hire

NRP within 3 months of hire

BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications at time of hire.

ITLS or PHTLS certificate within 6 months of hire

  • Paramedic applicant must have PHTLS or ITLS at time of hire.
  • RN's
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) accepted
National Institute Healthcare Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 6 months of hire

For Paramedic Applicants NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat awareness upon hire. RN Applicants within 6 months of hire.

EVOC driving course completed within 1 year of hire.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring)
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or Illinois Health Care Workers Background Check
Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Knowledge of organization and position structure as well as ability to learn and utilize guidelines, rules, procedures, policies, regulations, precedents as applied to the operations and program development within Emergency Department, EMS and Trauma Services Departments.
