The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The HARRIS CENTER") is looking for a
Business Office Specialist to join our team. Under the general direction of the CPEP Operations Manager, MCOT Program Director, MCOT Medical Director, and CTL's, the Business Office Specialist ensures that the financial data and authorizations are obtained, collected, and tracked efficiently at the site, maintains communications with all site staff regarding financial/authorization status, maintains work queues, and reports, ensures accuracy of data entry. Works independently and must demonstrate good judgment, excellent communication, and organizational skills.


Your role in Action:


  • Collects, verifies, enters, monitors, and reports data related to insurance and services billed.
  • Obtains and enter insurance authorizations and medication prior authorization requests as needed.
  • Reverifies insurance of consumers and reviews MCOT MD schedule daily to ensure insurance information is accurately documented on MD schedule.
  • Reviews and enters completed ANSA/CANS into the electronic health record. Follows up with SAI's when ANSA/CANS have to be corrected and informs supervisor if SAI does not complete in a timely manner.
  • Ensures completion of all required insurance verification forms/documentation.
  • Responsible for running and keeping assigned work queues/reports updated in the EHR.
  • Collects, completes, and scans into the EHR The Harris Center financial packet for all MCOT consumers.
  • Willing to travel to consumers' homes when needed to complete Harris Center financials.
  • Communicates financial eligibility and other pertinent information to unit staff as needed.
  • Follows up with MCOT staff when documents are not turned in within required time frame.
  • Maintains professional behavior in accordance with the agency standards of behavior and provides excellent customer services to both staff and consumers.
  • Completes and sends accurate reports to supervisor as assigned within specified timeframes.
  • Attends required Agency meetings as scheduled.
  • Requests clinic intakes through The Harris Center Clinics as requested by SAI when consumer is ready for linkage.
  • Reviews and processes The Harris Center Gold Card for consumers.
  • Keeps up to date with changes made to financial forms and informs the MCOT team of these changes.
  • Collaborates with MCOT Trainer to educate new staff and provide refresher training for MCOT staff regarding financial documentation requirements.
  • Notifies supervisor of any ongoing problems or noted areas of concern.
  • Performs related work as assigned. Adapts to changing working requirements and flexible to meet the ongoing needs of the Agency.

What qualifications you will need:


Education:


  • High School Diploma or General Education diploma.

Experience:


  • At least one (1) year of experience in a business office/managed care setting.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels. Must be a team player and take initiative in completing job duties in a timely and accurate manner.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:


  • Must have basic knowledge of principles of the development, implementation, and documentation of individual care and treatment for a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Must be familiar with local behavioral health providers and hospitals in the area served by the Agency.
  • Must have strong communication skills, listening and interpersonal skills. Written documentation must be clear, concise, and wellconstructed. Must be able to work respectfully and maintain professional boundaries. Must have effective time management and organizational skills. Must be able to enter required documentation into a database and online medical record. Must be able to use basic word processing and data spreadsheets. Must have good written and spoken communication skills in English.
