The Dortmund Police Department is currently seeking a "Specialist in Computer Science (f/m/d) for the Cybercrime Investigation Department" to join the Criminal Investigation Department 31 as soon as possible.

The position is classified in pay group 11 TV-L and is available in full-time or part-time.

The Dortmund Police Department is a district police authority within the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia with 3,700 employees.

The department is responsible for the cities of Dortmund and Lünen, as well as monitoring traffic on the federal highways in the Arnsberg region.


The advertised position is located within the Crime Directorate, Criminal Investigation Department 3, Cybercrime division, specifically focusing on fraud, money laundering, counterfeit currency/cryptocurrency, and other internet-related crimes.


Your responsibilities:


The main focus of this position is on the entire Criminal Investigation Department 3 (CI 31-CI 38) for Dortmund and Lünen.

This includes forensic analysis, processing, and evaluation of data, as well as practical work at crime scenes (identifying and securing digital evidence on-site).


  • Collecting and securing data for use as evidence in court (forensic evidence)
  • Documenting and presenting the actions taken in a clear and understandable manner
  • Analyzing and evaluating seized hardware and data
  • Providing advice and support to the criminal investigation department on ITrelated matters, including onsite operations (searches, investigation commissions)
  • Conducting OSINT
