The International Journal of Cancer (IJC) has been the official journal of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) since 1966.

It covers a wide range of topics in experimental and clinical cancer research.

The editorial office is based at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany, and is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof.

We are currently seeking a part-time Scientific Advisor to conduct regular quality control checks on submissions to the Journal. This role is crucial in maintaining a high standard of data integrity and reproducibility in published articles.


As issues related to research integrity and misconduct continue to arise, we need a scientist with the necessary background knowledge to advise and make decisions on potentially manipulated data.

The Scientific Advisor will work closely with the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief to take appropriate action and communicate with authors and the publisher.


Job Description:


  • Reviewing images in submitted and published papers for integrity
  • Evaluating original experimental data provided by authors
  • Verifying the use of valid cell lines and appropriate documentation in submitted papers (cell line authentication
