Maryland Center for Legal Assistance (MCLA) expands access to justice by providing free, compassionate, innovative, and high-quality legal services. Through comprehensive legal advice, education, and collaboration with community partners, we empower all people, regardless of means or background, to navigate the civil legal system with confidence.


MCLA, through a contract with Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, operates the Anne Arundel Family Law Help Center to provide legal advice to civil litigants in person.

The Family Law Help Center deals with a wide range of civil legal matters, including divorce, custody, child support and guardianship.


Job Summary:

MCLA announces an immediate opening for a full-time Administrative Assistant position in Annapolis, MD.

The administrative assistant assists litigants in signing in for services, directs litigants to appropriate resources, ensures that all administrative functions are met, provides administrative assistance to the leadership team, and staff attorneys.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Greet visitors and guide them through the intake process.
  • Answer telephone calls and direct phone calls to relevant staff.
  • Enter data accurately and efficiently.
  • Order supplies.
  • Maintain accurate, updated filing system for all matters in the Anne Arundel County Family Law Center.
  • Update online calendars.
  • Coordinate submission of necessary human resources and information technology documents.
  • Generate reports and other assignments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:


Good time management and organizational skills; a professional and personable demeanor; proficiency with technology, including data entry; excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in handling a variety of high-volume workloads and prioritizing time-sensitive tasks; expertise with Microsoft Office, Excel, and experience in law office procedures and management of office staff.


Work Environment

Benefits
The salary range for this position is $40, $49, In addition, MCLA provides employees with a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k)-retirement plan, 2 weeks paid time off, paid sick leave, 14 annual paid holidays, and more
