Rehab Therapy Tech IV

  • The Rehabilitation Therapist Technician IV will be hired and directly supervised by a Registered Therapist, Psychologist, Recreation Supervisor or Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor, performing highly complex habilitation/rehabilitation work a providing assistance to therapists for an assigned therapeutic specialty, (e.g., music therapy, therapeutic recreation, dance/movement therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, or vocational rehabilitation). Work involves overseeing, monitoring and/or providing instruction/training regarding treatment plans for assigned therapeutic specialty to Rehabilitation Therapist Technician II and III and direct care staff. Will train and supervise others. Valid driver's license and ability to drive a state vehicle may be required. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.


  • Assists Registered Therapist, Psychologist, or Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor in the development and evaluation of treatment plans for their assigned therapeutic specialty. 20%
  • Monitors the implementation of the program objectives by the direct contact staff and Rehabilitation Therapist Technicians II and III. 25%
  • Schedules and conducts staff training and oversight to Rehabilitation Therapist Technicians II and III and direct contact staff, for optimal resident treatment and training for assigned therapeutic specialty. 15%
  • Ensures the Rehabilitation Therapist Technician II and III and direct contact staff satisfactorily completes documentation of treatment for each individual for program their related therapeutic specialty in order to meet applicable standards and procedures. 15%
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary team process including providing information regarding the results of functional skills assessments and response to interventions as well as the results of monitoring and staff training efforts as mentioned above. 10%
  • Ensures the collection and completion of data related to treatment plans in order to accurately assess individuals' progress. 10%
  • Hires, supervises and trains Rehab Therapy Tech II/III staff and ensures maintenance of skills. 5%
  • Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

  • 1. Knowledge and skills in relevant therapeutic techniques (e.g., applied behavior analysis, sensory integration, etc).
  • 2. Ability to train staff in treatment methods and related areas.
  • 3. Ability in written and oral communication.
  • 4. Ability to assist in development of treatment and support plans.
  • 5. Ability to develop and maintain data collection systems for assigned therapeutic specialty (e.g., music therapy, therapeutic recreation, dance/movement therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, or vocational rehabilitation).
  • 6. Ability to utilize personal computers and relevant software.
  • 7. General knowledge of ICF-IID regulations and state supported living center policies and procedures is preferred.
  • 8. Physical requirements are the same as those for direct contact staff positions.
  • 9. Skill in the use of equipment, tools, and materials used in therapeutic activities.
  • 10. Some college course work in behavioral sciences, education, or related areas is preferred.
  • 11. Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
  • 12. Demonstrated commitment to facility mission and service/workplace values.
  • 13. Ability to provide rehabilitation therapy, to prepare concise reports, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others

Registration or Licensure Requirements:


Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation or GED, plus two years of experience assisting in therapeutic activities.
  • Successful completion of a therapist technician training program may be substituted for six months of experience

  • 1. Experience in the provision of active treatment preferred.
  • 2. Experience working in Microsoft Word.
  • 3. Experience keeping production data preferred.
  • 4. Experience working and providing leadership.
  • 5. Experience and/or knowledge of coaching techniques.
  • 6. Experience and/or knowledge of person centered planning
