Job Description I. General Summary**The Surgical Assessment Coordinator is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team that participates in the efficient coordination of surgical pre-admission. The coordinator contributes to the flow and efficient operation of the unit by collecting


II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks


The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.

  • Reviews all preoperative data received in the Surgical Assessment Center for clarity and timeliness and coordinates with nursing staff to determine if additional data is needed
  • Contacts surgeons & primary care physician's offices, outside labs, and various departments within the organization to obtain outstanding test results.
  • Logs all data into Procedure Pass in EPIC with notations to clinical fax reviewers when appropriate
  • Works collaboratively with Clinical fax reviewers and PAC Info Specialist to ensure patient charts are completed.
  • Collects data to support departmental performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications Education and Experience**- High School Diploma or GED (required)

  • 1 year work experience in a clinical or administrative (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to exercise initiative, judgement and knowledge within the scope of their responsibilities (required)
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
  • Strong verbal communications, written communications, organizational, interpersonal, and customer services skills (required).
  • Basic computer skills (required).
