Duties:


  • The incumbent serves as a liaison between the fleet and MWR Departments. As such, they support the department in delivering programs to the shipboard community and facilitate fleet participation in departmental activities. The Deployed Forces Support Coordinator works closely with Recreation Department Athletic Directors, Publicity Managers, Information Tickets and Tour Managers and all MWR department facility managers.
  • The incumbent provides training to Recreation Services Officers, Fund Custodians and Afloat Civilians by presenting the Fleet Recreation Management Course as a qualified course manager. Provides technical training in the functional areas of afloat recreation program accounting, auditing, procurement, general program administration and fund management.
  • Deployed Forces Support Coordinators serves a source of management support for shipboard recreation personnel.

  • Budgeting
  • General administration and record keeping
  • Policy interpretation
  • Procurement, both APF and NAF
  • Design of shipboard fitness space
  • Planning, supervision and evaluation of programs
  • Library Resource Center (LRC) design
  • Computerization of records and files
  • Financial management and administration
  • Indoctrination briefs
  • The Incumbent coordinates shipboard participation in MWR Department recreational programs and as well as assisting ships in the development of commandsponsored activities. Recreational programs may also be sponsored by Deployed Forces Support Coordinators for individual ships, squadrons, groups or ships inport. The incumbent locally manages the programs offered by other elements in the chain of command such as Commander, Navy Installation Command and the Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet.
  • The incumbent assists and supports CNIC's Civilian Afloat Program. Coordinates base orientation process for new civilian afloat specialists and liaisons between the employees and SOuthwest Region MWR Departments.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

Qualifications:


  • Incumbent must obtain certification of the Fleet Recreation Management Course (FRMC) and formal qualification as Course Manager for the FRMC within one (1) year of accepting this position. The position requires specialized experience of at least five years.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding the expenditure and accountability of U.S. government appropriated and nonappropriated funds.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding the procurement, control and disposition of U.S. government appropriated and nonappropriated property.
  • General knowledge of Navy policies, organization and administration; indept knowledge of Navy Recreation policies, administration and procedures.
  • Knowledge of exercise equipment suitable for shipboard use and skill in designing shipboard fitness spaces.
  • Skill in presenting briefs, lectures, and formal education program.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate limited assets in response to the dynamic needs and requirements of the fleet.
  • Knowledge of the principles of shipboard recreation, underway and inport.
  • As a minimum, the position requires formal education with a fouryear baccalaureate (bachelor's) degree from an accredited college or university with a major in recreation administration, exercise science, tourism, or physical education.
  • A master's level graduate degree in recreation administration or business administration is desired.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education.
