Altus specializes in delivering comprehensive engineering, prototyping, testing, and production capabilities, including design, fabrication, assembly, and compliance support to our Government customers.

The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that materials and equipment are sourced, purchased, and delivered efficiently to meet project timelines and quality standards


We are looking for an individual that can use their Purchasing Specialist experience to add value and make a significant impact as a Purchasing Specialist to NAVAIR for this opportunity.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with project managers to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules related to purchasing activities.
  • Ensure all procurement activities are aligned with project milestones and deadlines.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for materials and equipment needed for the machine shop.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Track and manage project budgets related to purchasing.
  • Identify costsaving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Prepare cost reports and financial summaries for project management review.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities and transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, including spend analysis and supplier performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance purchasing efficiency.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in procurement practices.
  • Provide training and support to team members on procurement processes and tools.***
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or a qualifying substitution of 6 years experience in an engineering, technical, or business discipline
  • 03 years of relevant handson experience in project management and purchasing, preferably in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Active U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance (Must have interim clearance before start date)
  • Must possess a valid Maryland Drivers License

Work Conditions:

Conditions will vary.


Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with a fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from The position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Overtime is a requirement of this position.
