ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT I - CALIFORNIA NATURAL RESOURCES AGENCY OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY / EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT UNIT

The reporting location for this position is the Natural Resources Agency Headquarters in Sacramento. This position will work under the general supervision of the Managing Assistant (Staff Services Manager I).


Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, Managing Assistant for the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) Secretary and Undersecretary, the Administrative Assistant I (AA I) provides administrative detail to the Deputy Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries.

The AA I serves as the front desk receptionist and is expected to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, government agencies, boards, commissions as well as the public.

The incumbent performs a wide variety of technical, analytical, and staff service tasks with a high degree of responsibility, in addition to expert knowledge of the CNRA's operational and organizational structure and awareness of current issues, including contact with high-level state/federal agencies, the legislature, the Governor's Office (GO), and numerous external organizations.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment and prioritize tasks is a must.
  • This position is categorized as Office-Based. The position's job duties are performed at the designated work location in Sacramento 100% of the time.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The current Secretary for the California Natural Resources is Wade Crowfoot and he serves as a member of Governor Gavin Newsom's cabinet.
