Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Long Beach Medical Center and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital of Long Beach.
Integrity, Accountability, Best Practices, Compassion and Synergy. The employee shall support LBMC and MCWHLB strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Performs administrative duties including typing correspondence, reports, memoranda from the Spiritual Care leadership team (Director and Manager).
- Ensures the efficient management of the department operations and maintains the Director's and Manager's calendar as assigned
- Must be organized and have the ability to schedule appointments and coordinate arrangements for Spiritual Care department related meetings and services, including coordination with catering, parking and transportation, Public Safety, front desks, audio/visual equipment (in chapel and meditation room), and other arrangements as needed
- Efficiently and effectively takes minutes for department management meetings and other meetings as assigned by Spiritual Care leadership team. Assists in the preparation, planning and execution of the agenda
- Communicates effectively in written and verbal form using appropriate grammar as well as transcribes from dictation and compose non-routine correspondence on own initiative
- Collect and distribute mail in a timely manner, and in accordance with established department procedures
- Assist with Decedent Affairs needs, working closely with the Spiritual Care leadership team as well as Decedent Affairs chaplain on daily roles and responsibilities.
- Offers to assist others in our department when work is completed without being prompted
- Demonstrates a basic knowledge of End of Life, Advance Directives, Compassion Fatigue, spiritual assessment, care plans, cross cultural beliefs, and issues related to spiritual care in the medical setting.

Qualifications
Experience
- 3+ years advance secretarial experience supporting more than one manager/director/executive.
- Ability to type 55 WPM.
Education
- 2 years college or demonstrated courses in secretarial/business preferred
- Trained in and maintains active status to the CA Electronic Death Registration System
