Description
The Manager, Academics and Internships provides academic management and enrollment management support for International Programs.

Enables students to have a successful academic experience abroad:

receive academic advising, course registration, internship interviews and preparation, and supports students as they prepare for the abroad experience.


Duties

  • Oversee the processing of a variety of complex IP academic matters for 800 students annually, including course scheduling for six global centers as well as several facultyledprograms, managing courses lists and IP class scheduling, performing registration audits, and ensuring academic policies are in compliance for all IP programs.
  • Oversee IPrelated academic advising in Malibu and at the six global centers, ensuring effective advising in Malibu and at all program locations for all Seaver students, especially those students underrepresented in IP programming. Analyze student academic needs and make recommendations on course additions for IP programs worldwide.
  • Manage and direct the Global IP Academic Staff's implementation and use of Peoplesoft and Navigate to increase student success metrics.
  • Manage and maintain IP course syllabi and textbook lists to ensure syllabi meet Seaver College Dean requirements and best practices.
  • Manage Pepperdine's Global Fellows Certificate Program, including serving as lead academic advisor.
  • Lead all IP internship programs for the Malibu Office, including evaluating and selecting students, executing and leading internship preparation orientations, and monitoring and advising on global internship processes.
  • Serve as the Associate Dean's liaison to various external internship constituents through written correspondence, phone, and inperson contact, representing the executive at meetings as needed.
  • Manage IP academic research and evaluation initiatives including diversity, equity and inclusion research (DEI), student learning outcome data, and IP strategic initiatives planning. Recommend changes to program and curriculum.
  • Supervise assigned student staff members. Set and communicate expectations for supervisees. Develop new protocols, procedures, and training programs to enhance quality of work and effectiveness of staff. Assess workloads and make recommendations to the Associate Dean for work redistribution if necessary. Evaluate supervisee work to ensure efficiency and accountability.
  • Develop documents and correspondence for presentations, conferences, seminars, and reports. Coordinate logistics for FacultyinResidence workshops and training. Maintain handbooks and webpages in partnership with Associate Dean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor's degree. 2+ years of professional work experience. Experience of study abroad in the context of a private Christian college. Experience of undergraduate student advising/mentoring. Experience of fast-paced academic administrative environment. Understanding of collegiate academics in the American context. Excellent written and oral communicative skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural skills. Demonstrable ability to prioritize and manage multi-faceted workload in timely and reliable fashion. Mac OS; MS Office Suite; Google Suite.

Preferred:
Master's degree. 2+ years of academic management/student support at a private college. Experience of collaborative engagement with multiple constituents in pursuit of shared goals. Knowledge/experience of higher education beyond the American context. College enrollment management experience. Internship management experience. Familiarity with PeopleSoft.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Rate:
$66,560 per year

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
