Leesburg is one of the most diverse employers in Germany. Every year, we are looking for over 5,000 apprentices in 50 different professions who want to grow and improve with us.

We are currently seeking candidates for a 3-year apprenticeship as a locomotive shunter (m/f/d) for DB Cargo AG at our locations in Hamburg, Itzehoe, and Lübeck. The practical part of the training will take place at these locations, while the vocational school is located in Hamburg-Nettelnburg and the training center is in Maschen.
What to expect during your apprenticeship:
  • You will assemble freight trains by coupling and uncoupling individual freight cars
  • You will shunt the freight cars onto the appropriate tracks
  • Checking the functionality of the trains and securing the cargo are also part of your responsibilities
  • You will become an expert in the rules for safe railway operations and your shunting locomotive
  • You will drive a locomotive to nearby customers, such as various companies, to pick up the goods to be transported
  • You will start and end your workday at your regional shunting yard
