Operation Technical Assistant (OTA)

Operation Technical Assistants (OTA) are specially trained for the operating room and provide expert support to surgeons. Manual-technical and medical knowledge, compassion, organizational skills, and efficient use of resources are all important competencies for this role.

OTA is a good fit if:

· you enjoy working with people

· you are able to handle difficult situations

· you have an interest in biology and chemistry

· you are very detail-oriented

Areas of deployment

Operation Technical Assistants are deployed in the operating room, in the outpatient clinic, and in emergency departments.

Perspectives

Further training for ward management

The training takes one to two years part-time and qualifies for the management of a nursing station or for the role of OP manager or OP director.

Possible degree programs include health management or health economics.

With the appropriate degree, one can also apply for the field of human medicine and later work as a doctor in the operating room.
