As a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a combined training as a Construction Draftsperson, you will be employed within the Department of Civil Engineering in Merrillan.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, construction, renovation, and maintenance of municipal roads, sewers, traffic lights, and subway tunnels.


The five and a half year dual program combines studies and training as a Construction Draftsperson, preparing you for your future role.

The training as a Construction Draftsperson will take place in the first two years of the program, either in the Roads Department or in the Subway and Structural Engineering Department.

Here, you will learn the basic knowledge for your future studies.

Upon successful completion of the training, you will receive a temporary employment contract as a Construction Draftsperson until the start of your studies.


The study program will take place at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences and has a standard duration of 3.5 years.

During your studies, you will continue to receive compensation equivalent to the public service apprenticeship salary. During your study breaks, you will be employed in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Upon successful completion, you can expect:

  • A position in the higher civil service (starting at EG 10 TVoeD)
  • Opportunities for advancement to leadership positions
  • The possibility to pursue a selforganized Master's degree program.
