Description
Overview:
Under general direction of the Payroll Supervisor, assist with performing payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, stipends, benefits, garnishments, taxes, deductions and employee reimbursements.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in all activities necessary to process payroll, including maintaining related records, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures and preparing reports for management.
- Assists in the coordination efforts between payroll, human resources, budget and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports).
- Establishes/maintains employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to company policy including compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
- Assists in the administration of the electronic timekeeping system.
- Monitors submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll service.
- Train new managers tasked with processing timecards in a professional manner.
- Applies excellent math skills to make necessary calculations, such as computing deductions and other special pay.
- Communicates politely and professionally to staff requests regarding payroll payment status and resolution of payment errors.
- Maintains all payrollrelated correspondence in an organized manner.
- Resolves discrepancies by investigating documentation, payments or adjustments.
- Audits annual W2s produced by time keeping system for Central Health per IRS guidelines & timeline by analyzing, preparing, checking and balancing routine fiscal transactions and accounts.
- Meets strict deadlines.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years experience in payroll required.
- 2 years Processing payrolls with 500+ employees; bookkeeping, general accounting preferred.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)APA preferred.
- Certified Payroll Clerk preferred.
