Northern Calibration Authority is a public institution responsible for the enforcement of legal metrology in Northern Germany on behalf of the states of Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Schleswig-Holstein.

This unique cross-state collaboration allows for a forward-thinking approach that combines important regulatory tasks with consideration for business aspects.

Our main activities include calibration and market surveillance of measuring instruments subject to legal metrology, resulting in the annual inspection of thousands of devices and pre-packaged goods from all areas of daily life.

The Northern Calibration Authority also conducts conformity assessment procedures as a conformity assessment body, providing support to manufacturers in placing measuring instruments on the German or European market.
