Reads electric, gas, or water meters


Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • None

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Walk designated routes to read water, gas, and electric meters accurately and efficiently.
  • Record meter readings using handheld devices or other designated tools.
  • Report any issues with meters routes or property issues to supervisors.
  • Willing to work in the elements such as hot/cold weather, rain, and snow.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing meter reading duties.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient meter reading operations.
  • Drive company vehicles to and from job sites.
  • Ensure company vehicle(s) are cleaned and maintained.
  • Adhere to and obey traffic regulations and laws.
  • Work overtime as needed, and travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Ensure time and leave is reported accurately and timecard is approved.
  • Complete weekly reports, such as vehicle inspections and expense reports.
  • Complete other administrative paperwork, reports, etc as needed.

Ability to:


  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Sit for long periods of time while driving.
  • Walk several miles per day.
  • Work outdoors daily in various weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with handheld devices or data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording data.
  • Work independently and manage time effectively without supervision.
  • Work cooperatively with others when needed.
  • Pass background check.

Education/Training:

Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent


Experience:

One year (full-time equivalent) of public contact experience is desirable.

Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required.


License or Certificate:


Work Environment:

Work both indoors and outdoors is required.

While performing the duties of this job outdoors, the working conditions are of a varying degree, from snow to extreme heat.

Travel from property to property safely adhering to traffic laws.


Physical Requirements:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk long distances, stand, sit, exert considerable physical effort involving stooping/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, lifting/carrying, bending, and performing other similar actions.

Incumbents require sufficient mobility to work in a field setting with exposure to a variety of weather conditions, slippery and uneven surfaces.

While performing the job duties the incumbent is required to operate hand tools and equipment, at times lifting up to 50 lbs.


Pay:
$ $21.00 per hour
