The Landscape Association Rhineland (LVR) works as a municipal association with approximately employees for the 9.8 million people in the Rhineland region. With its 41 schools, ten hospitals, 20 museums and cultural institutions, four youth facilities, the state youth office and the network for therapeutic support, it fulfills tasks that are perceived throughout the Rhineland. The LVR is Germany's largest provider of services for people with disabilities and is committed to inclusion in all areas of life. "Quality for people" is its guiding principle.

The 13 independent cities and twelve districts in the Rhineland region, as well as the city region of Aachen, are the member bodies of the LVR. In the Rhineland Landscape Assembly, elected members from the municipalities in the Rhineland region shape the work of the association.
