The
Principal Specialist - Configuration Management Analyst will execute within a team environment to plan and implement a Configuration Management system applicable to internal Collins Aerospace and external customer requirements.

They will establish and maintain all aspects of configuration management activities relative to planning, configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and verification/auditing for programs and product line teams in accordance with internal guidelines and contract requirements.


This position will work onsite in Sterling, Virginia.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Supporting future growth initiatives by performing CM tasks related to bid estimating and proposal writing tasks
  • Reviewing customer statement of work or performance work specification for CM requirements
  • Utilize CM related guidance provided by industry and military standards to ensure compliance to CM requirements
  • Understanding and complying with Collins CM System (CMS) processes and procedures adhering to product integrity requirements
  • Working on multiple unclassified and classified projects typically in a parallel engineering development environment
  • Implementing and executing existing CM Plans or authoring customized plans related to unique customer CM requirements.
  • Analyzing software/hardware product structure/family tree development to ensure compliance with Collins and/or customer requirements
  • Collaborating with engineering in CM tool utilization, version control system trunk, branch, and tagging strategies with an ultimate goal for efficient change tracking, version control, merges, and tagging of releases
  • Collaborating with engineering in establishment of key program milestones synchronization to software baseline author control, project control and enterprise control levels
  • Serve as a stakeholder of engineering review boards (ERBs) and configuration control boards to establish initial engineering and formal test baselines, and then evaluate and maintain changes driven by change requests
  • Collaborating with engineering in the software build process development and execution (manual or automated), media creation labelled per project requirements
  • Collaborating with engineering in problem solving configuration management issues
  • Ensure deliverable software media is created to expectations and cyclical redundancy checks are documented as part of configuration status accounting records.
  • Document and communicate key CM Activities (e.g., audits, baseline merge tasks, etc), CCB minutes and Formal Baseline Change (FBC) load activities as part of configuration status accounting records
  • Ability to cochair (plan, conduct and closeout) with the external customer formal conformance audits such as FCA/PCA events
  • Generate hardware /software configuration documentation, Software Version Description (SVD) or Source Code Record (SCR) documentation as necessary to support software delivery
  • Perform informal and formal CM verification and audits; Includes developmental surveillance audits and formal System Verification Reviews (SVRs)/Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs)

Minimum Qualifications/Experience
Needed:


  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior experience with ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System (experience with internal and external audits is a plus)
