Description

The Community Program Specialist II (CPS II) is responsible for fulfilling a variety of extensive, analytical assignments, complex projects, and providing technical support relative to rules and regulations related to regional center services, service provider qualifications, how services are paid for, and the federal funding sources, including Medicaid, that finance the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) service delivery system.

The position will be responsible for analytical and research assignments, management of databases, providing technical assistance, and researching complex programmatic issues.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an open spaced, partitioned office environment. Working on a personal computer 80% to 95% of the time. Occasional travel may be required.

  • The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through stateoperated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than two pages in length. Applicants who fail to answer the questions below or submit an SOQ may not be considered.

1. What experience do you have working with statutes and regulations and their interpretations? Did you provide monitoring and/or oversight of those statues and regulations?

2. What is your understanding of and/or experience with the California service delivery system for persons with developmental disabilities?
