The Medical Faculty is an essential part and one of the founding faculties of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Germany with a history of over 500 years.

Medicine has been studied in Halle since 1694. In 1754, Dorothea Christiane Erxleben became the first female doctor in Germany to receive a doctorate here.


The Medical Faculty offers five attractive degree programs in well-equipped institutes and clinics: Medicine, Dentistry, Evidence-Based Nursing (B.Sc.), Health and Nursing Sciences (M.Sc.), and Midwifery Science (B.Sc.).

The study of medicine provides an excellent interdisciplinary and practical education in all preclinical and clinical subjects. Halle is the only place in Saxony-Anhalt where a practice-oriented dental education is offered.
