Summary:


The Associate will report to the Managing Director of Community Investment and will work closely with them to support their work and that of the Community Investment department to ensure the effective implementation of programs, grantmaking, and other projects that ultimately help achieve the foundation's strategic vision of closing the racial wealth gap and advancing economic mobility in the most underinvested neighborhoods in the region.

This will include providing high-level administrative support to the Managing Director, coordinating day-to-day operations of the Community Investment department, partnering with the Managing Director to prioritize internal and external commitments, and ensuring effective communication and engagement with staff within and across departments.

The Associate is a pivotal member of the team, contributing to effective collaboration and execution. The Associate will also provide support to the Health Equity Fund including its events, grant-making, and administrative functions.


In addition to the duties described in this position description, every role at the foundation is expected to contribute to the overall success of the organization and its goals.

This may mean that team members will be asked to take on other tasks that may not be listed here.

Examples may include working on a project or specific task outside of your standard area of responsibility, participation on an organization-wide task force or special initiative or being asked to support a colleague when needed.

Any additional tasks will be determined by the manager of this role in coordination with the leadership team.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide administrative and program support to the Managing Director and the broader Community Investment department. This includes preparing meeting materials and presentations, coordinating logistics for events, assisting with project management duties for various initiatives and funds, and more.
  • Manage financial transactions in partnership with the finance team including payment requests, vendor contracts and payments, grant payments, expense reports, and tracking the overall Community Investment department budget.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers related to grantmaking processes.
  • Other Community Investment Team duties (as needed). The Associate will be asked to provide support from time to time on other departmental or foundation initiatives.

Desired Skills and Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; must be able to meet deadlines and follow through to accurate completion.
  • Possess the ability to perform work expeditiously and proactively spot, troubleshoot, and elevate issues.
  • Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, the ability to work well with a wide range of colleagues, and the ability to interact respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures.
  • Approach challenges or roadblocks with a problemsolving, pragmatic, and cando attitude.
  • Experience with planning meetings and events.
  • Technology fluency with managing calendars, appointments, and schedules; word processing, spreadsheet, and database development/maintenance; and development of presentation materials (preferably using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point software); and electronic communications. Familiarity with project management tools (such as Asana) is preferred.
