Tasks

Speech therapists are members of a non-medical medical profession. The scope of work includes the diagnosis, therapy, and counseling of patients - including their families - with disorders of voice, language, speech, speech flow, as well as hearing disorders that affect speech and speaking. In collaboration with the physician and on their prescription, speech therapists independently and responsibly treat patients of all ages.

Speech therapists work in clinical facilities, rehabilitation centers, private practices, as well as social and educational institutions.

Qualifications

Requirements and admission to training:

  • Completed secondary school education (or equivalent; high school diploma desirable but not required)
  • Good health: healthy and resilient voice; normal hearing and vision; normal physical and mental resilience
  • Musicality and a neutral dialect pronunciation with good verbal expression
  • The medical certificate of vocal fitness can be obtained upon request at the Phoniatrics Department of the University ENT Clinic Greifswald, Tel /
