DESCRIPTION:


The Center for Perinatal Discovery (CPD) is a collaboration between the Departments of Pathology, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, and Pediatrics.

The CPD was established to promote research into perinatal health, including the health of both mothers and babies. To this end, the CPD is conducting research studies into both maternal and neonatal health. Clinical data and biospecimens are being collected at several clinical sites from normal and high-risk pregnancies, with neonatal/pediatric follow-up. The CPD is also involved in community educational activities which promote maternal and child health.

Under supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting faculty and clinical research coordinators involved in the Center activities


Responsibilities include:

maintaining relationships with coordinators in all three departments, assisting with biospecimen processing as well as maintenance and organization of the biorepository, clinical data collection and data entry, database organization, and IRB/ESCRO maintenance; ordering supplies and tracking expenses; assist with transportation of biospecimens between clinical and research sites, as well as shipping to collaborators; providing administrative assistance to CPD leadership for organization of operations meetings as well as advertising of CPD-sponsored events and studies.

The incumbent will also provide laboratory administrative assistance to 3-5 CPD-affiliated faculty in the Department of Pathology.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Theoretical knowledge in biological sciences or related field or equivalent experience in health services setting. Solid theoretical knowledge in biology, medicine, or related field.
  • Solid demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills. Good Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with health professionals, patients, caregivers and work in interdisciplinary team harmoniously.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various software, including MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database such as Excel or Access to prepare various research reports for presentation and data analyses.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to keep accurate and complete records.
  • Proven ability to complete difficult work assignments. Proven ability to work in a fastpaced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to handle and work with human tissues and other biohazardous, toxic, and carcinogenic materials and to recognize safety problems. Knowledge of radiation safety and biosafety techniques and practices. Demonstrated ability to follow established Safety and Biohazardous Material Guidelines.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:


  • Must be available to work variable schedules including occasional weekends, overtime, and/or flexible hours.
  • Must have valid California driver's license, acceptable driving record and access to reliable transportation.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$53,766 - $64,143 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent:
$ $30.72

The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
