Dean of Students staff serve students through programs, events, resources, and services built around student support, student involvement, and student conduct.

Our services also include Student Governance Organizations. Dean of Students is one of eight departments in the Division of Student Affairs.

Purpose


Works with the Associate Director of Student Emergency Services by provide supportive guidance to the unit, student crisis intervention, referral to campus and community resources.


Responsibilities:


  • Resources and Consultation
  • Provide immediate and ongoing support to students in crisis including, but not limited to, interacting with students and their families, student affairs offices, academic units, and relevant departments to coordinate University responses to students' needs.
  • Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with campus partners to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to student needs and crisis services.
  • Marginal/Incidental functions
  • Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications


Master's degree in student affairs administration, social work, psychology, counseling or related field and 3 or more years of experience in case management or higher education administration, residence life or other community agency relating to student development.

Direct experience with individual crisis management and in the development, implementation, mediation, and evaluation of crisis and-or grief intervention protocols.

Experience supervising staff. Experience with case management and case consultation. Demonstrated organizational, administrative, listening and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work under stress, perform multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build campus partnerships. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a varied community and provide programs and services from a non-judgmental perspective. _Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate._

Preferred Qualifications


More than three years of experience counseling or working with college students, including the following - threat and risk assessment experience, direct experience with crisis management and in the development, implementation, mediation, and evaluation of crisis and-or grief intervention protocols.

Experience with supporting victims of a crime. Experience working with a law enforcement agency. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding student problems, parental and faculty concerns.

Salary Range

$61,200 non-negotiable
