Position Description:


Associate Director, Marketing Operations Procurement (Hybrid)


Working as part of a global & dynamic team, this position is responsible for category management and sourcing across the Marketing Operations categories within the wider Marketing Procurement organization.

These categories include Patient Access, Contract Sales Organization (CSO), and Market Access.


Day-to-day responsibilities of this role include identifying and managing the following key priorities: value creation, service delivery, fostering innovation & digitalization, corporate, social & environmental responsibility.

Reporting into this role will be a Marketing Operations Procurement Specialist position.


Critical to success targets and activities

Strategy Execution:

  • Support Director and global SSC on projects and strategic initiatives to drive continued growth and awareness of procurement value proposition in both Patient Access, CSO, and Market Access.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):

  • Support Associate Director and SSC on improving Service Delivery via Enhanced Supplier Performance Management.
  • Focus on the skills, tools and global processes that ensure the proactive management of supply risk and leveraging of our top suppliers' proven capabilities.

Critical to success relationships:

  • This role is responsible and accountable for sustaining existing and developing new cooperation frameworks across multiple stakeholder groups within the Marketing organization.
Sourcing Process, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Market Knowledge:
Category Management

  • Uses the Sourcing Management Process (SMP) to drive assurance of supply, quality, service, cost, innovation, and regulatory compliance within assigned categories resulting in sourcing plans that optimize value and ensure appropriate risk management.
  • Provides high quality sourcing analysis, strategic analysis, and insight into suppliers and markets in support of Global Human Health.
  • Proficiency in preparing and supporting prenegotiation planning, live negotiations, as well as leading and conducting RFIs, RFP/Qs, eauctions and quotation analysis, covering a potential scope of ~$200 million in annual spend.
Proactive Cost and Cash Flow Management

  • Contributes to cost control, cost reduction, and cost containment and cash flow targets, and adds value to area of expenditure through strong TCO orientation and process management.
Market Knowledge and Insight

  • Uses market knowledge and data analysis to gain critical insights that inform the execution of Sourcing Strategies and continuous improvement activities.
  • Actively participates in relevant industry conferences and events as appropriate.

Position Qualifications:


Minimum Requirement:


  • B.S./B.A. in Business, Finance, Science, or related field with 6+ years strategic sourcing and Procurement experience

Preferred Experience and Skills:


  • Excellent analytical, project management, communication, relationship, team building and leadership skills
  • Extensive experience managing internal and external business relationships
  • Must be adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments
  • Able to effectively lead diverse, crossfunctional teams to achieve stakeholder, department, and company goals
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Demonstrates strengths in collaboration, written and verbal communications, and crossfunctional teamwork
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and business software, including MS Excel and Word
