Description

At the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig, in the Faculty II, Department of Early Music, the following professorship will be filled for the summer semester 2025:
W3 Professorship for Baroque Violin
part-time with a half-time commitment (0.5 FTE)

In the case of initial appointment, according to § 71 paragraph 2 sentence 1 SächsHSG, a probationary appointment for a period of up to 2 years can be made.

Requirements for application:
completed university degree
evidence of high artistic qualification
pedagogical experience in higher education
international concert practice
intensive engagement with historical performance practice in the field of historical violin instruments
fulfillment of the appointment requirements according to § 59 SächsHSG

The scope of duties includes:
direction of a main subject class for Baroque Violin/Viola for the degree programs Bachelor, Master, Master Class and Minor
responsibility for teaching subject-specific methodology for Baroque Violin/Viola
artistic supervision of string ensembles/baroque orchestras
active participation in the academic self-administration of the department and the committees of the university

Participation in and, if necessary, leadership of department-specific and interdisciplinary projects, including the necessary artistic and organizational work,
