Wetlands & Waterways Protection Program

Main Purpose of Job:

The primary function of this position is to serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager and to support these positions in the full range of administrative responsibilities assigned to the Wetlands and Waterways Protection Program.

The Administrative Officer is also responsible for various aspects of the Program's financial management and reporting requirements.

In addition, the position may be assigned special projects from time to time by the Program Manager or Deputy Program Manager.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:
Two years of administrative staff or professional work.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience leading or supervising employees;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Oracle databases;
  • Experience with processing environmental permits;
  • Experience preparing reports;
  • Experience preparing and tracking supply and travel requisitions;
  • Experience with web page creation, posting, or management;
  • Experience working with the public, especially the administrative review of prepared responses to legislative inquiries, preparing public documents or notices, or organizing and providing responses to comments regarding permit or environmental inquiries.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

PERSONAL LEAVE - New State employees are awarded six (6) personal leave days annually (prorated based on start date).

ANNUAL LEAVE - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year.

SICK LEAVE - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year.


PARENTAL LEAVE - up to sixty (60) days of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child.
