    Working Environment


    • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work, including use of ladders and crawling in small spaces.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.
    • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
    • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
    • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals, and electric cart.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Seven (7) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

    Flexible work options

    Desired Qualifications


    • Evidence of a degree in music is desired.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of music genres.
    • Experience in reading music and follow musical scores.
    • Experience in audio engineering( 5 years)
    • Experience maintaining sound systems, microphones, other recording and classroom equipment.
    • Experience in performing complex sound recording for a variety of music genres both in studio and live settings.
    • Experience in Music or Theatre design and production.
    • Video recording experience.
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of Avid Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, Apple Logic Pro, Garage Band, and/or additional DAW and video editing software.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of sound recording and live sound principles, practices and procedures.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of concert production and sound design.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of DMX lighting protocol and lighting programming scene design.
    • Experience in basic project management

    Essential Duties


    • Management and oversight of the AV Recording Office, all of its technology and equipment.
    • Regularly reviews and maintains recording and streaming inventory in performance halls and classroom technology; manages repair and/or upkeep of all equipment and makes recommendations for upkeep, upgrades and replacements.
    • Maintains the PA and AV equipment in the Evelyn Smith Music Theater, and trains and oversees students to run sound for MTO productions and events in the Theater.
    • Oversees post-production editing and mastering process to ensure students and faculty have access to recorded media in a timely manner after each concert or recital.
    • Works directly and collaboratively with the Music Library staff and student workers to accommodate the needs of the Music Repository online performance archive.
    • Organizes and oversees the music program's live streaming project, scheduling broadcasting templates and training student workers in efficient methods of streaming services and other recording needs.
    • Organizes and maintains the archival process of audio and video data related to recordings and broadcasts produced during concerts and recitals.
    • Organizes and maintains a working inventory of all AV equipment for the Music program.
    • Manages the Music program's Cheqroom account, its user database, programming and inventory.
    • Manages the music program's equipment loan program, equipment maintenance and recommendations for new equipment to be added to the program as deemed necessary by the school's program needs.
    • Monitors the activities of student workers and assigns student workers as necessary to meet the recording and event productions needs of the Music program.
    • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs: communicates with artists regarding recording and productions needs and effectively plans for concert coverage.
    • Consults with staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation with regard to the music program's recording and classroom equipment needs.
    • Resolves field-related problems through written or verbal correspondence with regard to the music program's recording and classroom needs.
    • Analyzes research data and other literature and makes interpretations for application to the music program's recording and classroom inventory.
    • Assist in developing budgets for new recording and classroom equipment.
    • Main assignment is on the Tempe campus, but may also include some assignments on the Downtown Phoenix campus.
    • Will require evening and weekend hours, which will be flexibly scheduled.
    • Other duties as assigned.
