What does this role entail?

  • Provide leadership and assist with Annual Campaign and additional branch fundraising, such as capital, major gifts, and other development opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to the Development Department Head and other assigned staff for the YMCA of San Diego County.
  • Responsible for recruiting and retaining effective members of special event committees and volunteer meetings.
  • Provide leadership to branches countywide for Annual Campaign Strategy; comprehensive of campaign events, campaign volunteer recruitment, structure development, and goal achievement.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership to develop relationships with community members, volunteers and donors, in order to ensure event sponsorship, underwriting, ticket sales, and participation.
  • Develop event and Annual Campaign processes and administration management systems that provide excellence in accuracy and fund reconciliation.
  • Execute a comprehensive plan for major gift fundraising including prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation of gifts and stewardship.
  • Execution of a successful annual stewardship plan; ensuring all monthly stewardship targets are met.
  • Responsible for securing grants for branch projects and programs.
  • Provide leadership and fundraising training to Board of Management and the overall fundraising support to new board members.
  • Oversee campaign and event budgets and ensure revenue benchmarks of sponsorships, auction, and ticket sales are met.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing the overall branch operating plan to include branch planning, strategic planning, campaign and special events.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Business Center Admin Support team on Annual Support Campaign tasks.

What do I need to bring do the table?

  • Bachelor's degree and or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years' experience managing staff.
  • 3+ years' experience in special event management.
  • 3+ years' experience working with high level volunteers and donors.
  • Experience developing and managing departmental budgets and event budgets.
  • Experience developing and implementing annual stewardship plans.
  • This position requires the ability to sit, stand and input data on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
  • American Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety & Health Institute
