The Summer Learning Teacher is responsible for successfully bridging skill gaps in student learning.
Qualifications:
- Experience using effective teaching practices
- Experience and proven ability to effectively support the needs of students with gaps in learning
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working in an urban school environment required
- Professional Development is required for curriculum materials
- Teachers of Math K8 are required to complete four (4) half days of training online 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm, every Wednesday from May 12th to June 2nd
- PDMS hours will be earned for completion of training
- Teachers of ELA K8 are required to complete three (3) days of training 8:00 am 3:00 pm.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven ability to analyze data to identify learning needs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to identify learning needs of students through use of data
- Effectively support students in math and/or reading/ or skill areas of need using research based practices and programs
- Effectively teach required skill areas to Elementary students and/Middle/or High School students
- Implements program that meets the individual needs of the students
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Communicate with parents about student progress
- Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
- Performs other duties as assigned
