SUMMARY:
Assists the bus driver in the safe operation of the bus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Rides on the bus routes and monitors student behavior. Loads/unloads and operates the video camera equipment as needed. Assists the driver with all safety and student behavioral issues.
  • Write bus referrals and calls parents regarding student misbehavior if needed. Files written reports when incidents out of the ordinary occur on the bus.
  • Assists children with basic first aid when they are ill or injured on the bus. Attends monthly safety meetings.
  • Makes seating charts for bus routes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ab
ility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
