Recycling is a promising sector that fits perfectly into the general trend towards a circular, CO2-neutral economy.

At Hydro, recycling is one of our strategic growth pillars with ambitious goals for the use of scrap in our production.

The Recycling business unit within Aluminium Metal operates 5 foundries in Europe, 2 in the USA, a scrap processing plant in Germany, and is currently in a phase of growth.

To implement our ambitious recycling strategy, we are looking for a

Scrap and Raw Material Purchaser (m/f/d) Germany / Eastern Europe
This position includes a comprehensive training program and an introduction to the aluminum industry. We are also open to candidates with experience in this field.

Your responsibilities:

Learn, manage and expand the procurement of aluminum scrap and raw materials for relevant Hydro plants in Europe, with a focus on supplying our foundry in Rackwitz, D
Maintain and develop the existing supplier base
Identify and qualify potential new suppliers in Germany and Eastern Europe (PL, CZ, SK, HU, Baltic States)
Conduct supplier audits related to quality, environment, safety and health
Drive the qualification and use of new scrap grades in relevant Hydro plants, including possible preprocessing
Negotiate contracts, including finalization and order management, for the purchase of aluminum scrap and raw materials, including agreements for preprocessing/scrap preparation
Handle complaints and grievances
Record and report on supplier performance as a basis for supplier evaluation
