- Develop and maintain relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, with a strong emphasis on relationships with the offices of Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
- Serve as the first point of contact for Members of Congress and their staff.
- Maintain a database of Capitol Hill contacts, staying up to date on staff turnover and tracking CHCI alumni and other Hispanics who work on Capitol Hill.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the Congressional Hispanic Staffers Association (CHSA), the Hispanic Lobbyists Association (HLA), and other related professional organizations and networks.
- Assist leadership with strategic targeting of Member of Congress engagement.
- Participate in developing content for CHCI convenings (e.g.: summits, conferences, symposiums).
- Secure Member of Congress attendance at CHCI events and convenings. This includes recommending specific Members for events, inviting the Members, and following up with offices to confirm attendance.
- Work with the Development Team to identify Members of Congress to participate in CHCI events and convenings, including Issue Summits and Leadership Conference.
- Work with the Development Team to ensure Member of Congress and/or staff attendance at receptions and other small gatherings throughout the year.
- Work with the Programs Team to ensure Member of Congress and/or staff member participation in Program activities, including chats with participants and graduations.
- Staff Members of Congress on-site or oversee a process for staff/volunteer support of Members during CHCI events and convenings.
- Stay current on Member of Congress activities, such as existing and proposed legislation and Committee assignments.
- Proactively seek opportunities (including events and receptions) to attend on behalf of CHCI and expand our congressional network.
- Manage CHCI engagement with other public officials, including political appointees, ambassadors, and state/local elected officials.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience at a nonprofit, a government agency, or a public affairs firm.
- Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take pride in the work accomplished and have a keen attention to detail.
- Be a team player and have an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Ability to troubleshoot and reprioritize at a moment's notice.
- Ability to work collaboratively both with outside partners and internally with communications, programs, events, and development departments.

LOCATION: In-person in the DC metro area
POSITION SUMMARY
The ideal candidate is an innovative and well-connected professional who will cultivate, grow, and strengthen relationships between CHCI and Capitol Hill, as well as other public officials. A successful candidate must possess a strategic mindset and high degree of initiative. The Senior Manager will lead on all government affairs related issues. The position will report to the Chief of Staff and is based in Washington, DC.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 1978, dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders in the United States.
