Providence College Summer Nursing Academy at MGH

The Providence College Summer Nursing Academy is a summer enrichment program for Providence College nursing students finishing their freshman year of nursing school.
Positions are available for students as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) in all specialty areas
of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) of the
Providence College Nursing Academy and the
Providence College Nursing program in Rhode Island.
Patient Care Associate (PCA),
- Assists the multidisciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.
- Assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
- Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
- Requires considerable amounts of warmth, empathy, and patience, but it also requires professionalism and skill.

Providence Nursing Students

Required: Must be a current Nursing Student at Providence College
and Student member of the Providence Nursing Academy

Preferred:Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire,
OR:
- Knowledge of English language sufficient to read, speak, and write accurately
- Ability to lift and transport patients using the appropriate physical technique in a safe manner for the patient and self
