Job Summary and Qualifications:


Performs the functions related to the cash register operations, service of a variety of food items to customers and all services related to cleaning and maintaining a retail cashier station and café.

Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.


  • Complies with hospital/departmental policies and procedures, i.e., attendance, mandatory education, safety, infection control, etc.
  • Prepares cafeteria counter for customer service.
  • Stocks all service dishware and utensil for self service use.
  • Stocks all food items, condiments, and pc items for self service use.
  • Stocks all disposable items for self service use.
  • Restocks during cafe hours as needed.
  • Serves all customer through cafeteria line.
  • Maintains optimum customer service in café at all times.
  • Greets all customers cheerfully & respectfully.
  • Observes proper portion control techniques.
  • Utilizes techniques for cafeteria service as planned for food display.
  • Assists with notifying cooks of café service needs during the meal service.
  • Assures all items have appropriate menu signage.
  • Assists with temperature documentation as needed of foods in displays.
  • Cleans tables and chairs in dining atrium after each meal service.
  • Cleans and mops floors daily in service area.
  • Responsible for all monetary transactions using cash register policy.
  • Locks cash register when leaving the immediate area.
  • Complete appropriate reconciliation forms and delivers money to cash room.
  • Coordinates obtaining change for register at the end of shift.
  • Assists with tasks as assigned by department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:
Excellent customer service skills


Preferred:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Minimum of one year experience in retail or hospital food service; Computer and cashier skills


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

Required:

Current ServSafe Food Handler Permit, Travis County Health Department Food Handler Card or State Food Safety permit within 7 days of hire date.
