PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
- Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Inspector is required to approve both inhouse and vendor supplied products based on requirements provided in drawings, product literature, and documentation. The use of calipers, drop indicators, micrometers, various gauges, and other inspection devices will be required to complete the approval process based on industry standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform 1st piece approval, in process, and final inspections in accordance with inspection documents and sampling procedure.
- Carry out and document mechanical, dimensional, and visual inspections of small, machined components to ensure compliance with applicable drawings, inspection documents, and/or contractual requirements by using equipment such as calipers, drop indicators, micrometers, various gauges, comparators, etc.
- Perform First Article Inspections; experience with AS9102 standard.
- Inspect, approve, or reject incoming materials and parts by confirming specifications. Such items might include bar stock, machined parts, castings, springs, Orings, and other elastomers.
- Positive Material Identification with handheld XRF
- Element analysis and alloy identifier.
- Properly document, tag, and withhold noncompliant parts for disposition.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly, accurately, and effectively across different departments, including Machine Shop, Engineering, Production, Management Personnel, etc.
- Interface with Machine Operators, Manufacturing Engineers, and Design Engineers regarding technical issues and problem resolution.
- Must be able to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, shop routers, manufacturing specifications, quality control documents, and have GD&T experience.
- Assist in maintaining calibration records traceable to NIST standards.
- Support AS9100 audits and compliance efforts.
Physical requirements:
- May require extended periods of standing on a concrete floor.

Mental requirements Reading and understanding engineering blueprints and general knowledge of GD&T.Basic math skills.
Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Work environment Spending most of the day in or around the manufacturing area. Manufacturing Facilities are generally noisy, dusty, and occasionally have an odor from certain processes. Contact with petroleum-based lubricants and cleaners may not be avoidable.
