Student Part-Time Research Position

  • The Community Engagement Division in the Office of the Provost at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) wants to hire a student for a parttime position for the summer and academic year for research support. The student will perform routine research and administrative tasks. Must be able to collect, organize and analyze data from multiple sources (e.g. websites, news media, leadership interviews), keep records, prepare writeups and develop presentations. Ability to complete assigned projects on deadline with mínimal supervision.
  • JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect and prepare data and information from various sources (on-line, interviews) for projects using appropriate software.
  • Assist in conducting research including data collection and compilation.
  • Write summaries and develop visualizations of the data.
  • Handling sensitive data with integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned.


SKILLS

  • Selfmotivation and a high level of responsibility to complete tasks to a deadline with mínimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills.
  • Developed research skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in a changing environment.
  • Strong computer skills including google, internet, and other relevant software and technologies.
Graduate level preferred, but not required.


WORK HOURS:

  • Available from June 2024May 202
  • Variable, in coordination with the Community Engagement Team.
One third of work hours will be in person, the rest can be done remotely.


COMPENSATION:
- $20 per hour for 10-20 hours per week.
