Purpose:
The Senior Armament Technician will be responsible for managing maintenance and repair activities for field artillery, including M109's, M1A2's, 120mm mortars, and other armament systems under the Army Prepositioned Stocks - 2 (APS-2) contract.
This role will also involve maintaining and repairing weapons such as the CROWS, Remote Weapons Station (RWS), M777A2 Howitzer, and 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm Mortars.
The Senior Armament Technician will be responsible for ensuring the proper cleaning, inspection, servicing, and repair of all weapons in support of APS-2.
This role will also involve conducting cross-training as directed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Armament Technician will be responsible for the following essential duties:
- Determine the nature and extent of repairs required for weapons and related components
- Disassemble and examine parts and assemblies for serviceability
- Replace parts and assemblies as needed
- Repair, replace, and modify barrel assemblies, upper and lower receivers, gas tubes, gas rings, feed trays, feed pawls, buffer, and other related components
- Safely use hand tools and shop equipment without assistance
- Diagnose and resolve common failures in towed artillery and small arms with minimal
