The federal-owned Wismut GmbH has been rehabilitating and recultivating the regions in Saxony and Thuringia that have been impacted by uranium mining for over three decades.

As an internationally significant reference project for pioneering technologies in the remediation of radioactive waste, the employees of the company are facing one of the greatest ecological and technical challenges of our time.

In the Aue remediation area, we are currently seeking a


Head of Water Treatment Plant (m/f/d)
to lead our water treatment facilities at the Schlema-Alberoda and Pöhla sites. This position is initially limited to four years.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing and managing the operation and optimization of the water treatment facilities at the Schlema-Alberoda and Pöhla sites
  • Managing and coordinating the storage of residues
  • Ensuring process and plant safety
  • Planning and leading optimizations and modernizations of the water treatment facilities
  • Providing timely documentation for approval processes
  • Coordinating procurement processes for the responsible area
  • Organizing and approving economic and personnel planning
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and instructing subordinate employees
  • Ensuring occupational safety and health protection in the responsible area

Your profile:

  • Academic degree in environmental engineering, mechanical or plant engineering, process engineering, or a comparable field
  • Experience in the operational management of water purification or treatment plants
  • Professional experience in the treatment of mining wastewater is desirable
