Under the general direction of the Bureau Chief of the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau, the Staff Services Manager I/Field Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the Bureau's cite and fine; discipline; and field inspection/investigation activities.

The incumbent makes administrative and program decisions, which impact licensees, consumers, and governmental agencies.


We currently function as a hybrid telework team which requires our staff to report in-office 2 days per week and may be required to report to headquarters as business needs arise.

Working Conditions


The incumbent works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, in an office setting with artificial light, and temperature control.

Daily access to and use of a personal computer and telephone is essential. Siting and standing requirements are consistent with office work; weekend, evening work, and overnight travel may be required. Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential part of this job. Free parking.

  • The Cemetery and Funeral Bureau (Bureau) licenses, regulates, and investigates complaints against 14 different licensing categories in California totaling approximately 13,000 licensees. These licensing categories include funeral establishments, funeral directors, embalmers, apprentice embalmers, cemetery brokers, cemetery broker branch, cemetery broker additional, cemetery salespersons, cremated remains disposers, hydrolysis facilities, crematories, crematory managers, cemetery managers, and private nonreligious cemeteries in the State.
