CAFETERIA MONITOR
SCHEDULE:
Weekdays during the school year, 2 hrs/day
Monday, Tues, Thurs, Friday: 11:15-12:45, Wednesdays 10:15-12:15
John Glenn Middle School
Description:
At John Glenn Middle School we have a well designed and carefully thought out lunch routine.
From the time students enter to when they leave, they are supervised by an assistant principal, and at least 2 other teachers.
Additional staff are present including the principal on most days.The expectations of a cafetria monintor is to provide daily support to middle school administration and staff in supervising the cafeteria while students are at lunch.
This includes handing out cleaning wipes, monitoring for safe behavior, reminders to follow cafeteria expectations, reminder to students to clean their space and properly dispose of trash.
It also includes directing students to the waste sorting station and assist students in the proper disposal of their lunch waste, which is more environmentally friendly, and also teaches students to be good stewards of our environment.
A friendly and patient team player who is willing to proactively guide students through the process will be best suited to this role.
Responsibilities:
Hand out wet wipes to each table before students enter.
Walk about the cafeteria supervising students
Answer questions and make connections with students
Remind student of the posted expectations
Provide supervision in the halls at dismissal or entry
Support supervision at outside time when student go to the back fields.
Perform related work as needed, potentially floating to other cafeterias when needed
Must possess the ability to:
Maintain positive relations with students and staff
Be familiar with lunch routines and procedures
Be flexible and adaptable with students
Be comfortable with repetition
Physical and environmental demands:
Sometimes crowded and noisy environment
Stand for approx. 90 mins
Light lifting (5 pounds or less),
Bend/twist and reach
Hand mobility:
Hand out antibacterial wipes/light clean up
