The University Hospital Giessen and Marburg (UKGM) ensures the care of our annually patients at the highest level of medical and nursing care with around employees at the two locations in Giessen and Marburg.

At the Marburg location, we are currently looking for a Molecular Biologist (m/f/d) for a temporary full-time position at the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hospital Hygiene.

As part of the redesign of the Medical Microbiology department, we offer an exciting and challenging task.

The goal is to improve the detection of microbial resistances in clinical microbiology and hygiene, as well as the future routine capability of new molecular applications, such as microbiome analysis and molecular typing in whole genome sequencing.


Responsibilities:
Leading the expansion and redesign of molecular diagnostics in medical microbiology and hospital hygiene, including quality management. After training/participation in updating necessary algorithms in the laboratory information system (Swisslab, Hybase) and resistance statistics.

Participation in microbial routine diagnostics and multi-resistant pathogen (MRP) screening, as well as participation in weekend services and on-call duties.

Possibility of further training as a specialist microbiologist and/or habilitation.

Participation in the strategic development of the institute in the context of university medicine with tasks in research and teaching.

Participation in teaching in human medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry.
