The Supervisor Laboratory is primarily responsible for oversight of day to day operations of phlebotomy, specimen processing, laboratory office, and reference laboratory specimens at multiple locations.

This position is responsible for productivity, quality and service, strategic planning, continuous improvement and staff development with phlebotomy and collection personnel.


Responsibilities:

  • The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the selection, training, evaluation, and necessary discipline of Phlebotomy staff
  • Responsible for disciplinary actions that may be necessary
  • Responsible for managing the daily schedule for all phlebotomists to ensure adequate staff coverage at all DMG locations to provide the needed phlebotomy service hours, including approving vacation and other timeoff requests and managing the float phlebotomists to maintain coverage
  • Responsible for ensuring patients receive a quality professional phlebotomy service and a pleasant patient experience at all locations
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating compliance issues with Phlebotomists
  • Responsible for the organization and the delegation of duties to Lead Phlebotomist(s)
  • Responsible for continuing education, in addition, will be responsible for the creation and distribution of proper training manuals
  • Responsible for providing resolutions to issues such as turnaroundtimes with the lab, problems receiving supplies, patient issues and concerns, and will be responsible for forwarding these issues to the correct person.
  • Implement and administer department activities to ensure quality, efficiency, access, work safety, and a positive patient experience
  • Assists Laboratory Quality-Outreach Manager with implementation and daytoday operations of the Quality Assurance program, Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, Fraud, Waste and Abuse Plan across the enterprise while ensuring compliance with regulatory and governmental agencies related to phlebotomy and support
  • Responsible for oversight of phlebotomy and outreach operations to ensure adequate coverage at all DMG locations
  • Responsible for conducting informational updates with all Phlebotomists when necessary
  • Responsible for acquisition site preparation, golive, and support
  • Responsible for a state of readiness for regulatory and state inspections
  • RL6 investigation and support.
  • Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures for the identification, collection and analysis of quality, risk and/or patient safety information. Collects, evaluates, and maintains data concerning injuries, complaints, claims, and/or other patient safetyrelated data.
  • Investigates and analyzes root causes, patterns and trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events, serious adverse events and near misses. Assists with identification and implementation of corrective action where appropriate.
  • Effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility.
  • Facilitate thorough and credible serious event analysis that results in strong sustainable improvement strategies.
Local travel required 50-75% of the time to manage personnel within regional areas of DuPage Medical Group.


Qualifications:

The Experiences You Bring- High School Diploma or equivalency- Associate Degree or equivalent experience in a related field from an accredited university preferred.- Phlebotomy CertificationField of Study- Phlebotomy Minimum of 2 years of Lead or Supervisory experience and oversees at least 10 or more employees

  • Plus a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience required
  • Certification with American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
  • National Health Association (NHA)
  • National Phlebotomy Association (NPA)
  • CPR required
