Gardener as Foreman/Forewoman
Pay grade 7 TVöD
for the Department of Gardens, Cemeteries, and Forestry in Winnfield, LA


The Department of Gardens, Cemeteries, and Forestry is responsible for maintaining the city's green and open spaces, as well as cemeteries and forest areas.

The Cemetery Division operates 13 municipal cemeteries with a total area of approximately 263 hectares and employs around 200 staff members.

The current work location is at Hassels Cemetery, but there is potential for work at other city cemeteries.


Your responsibilities:


  • Supervising a team of 3 to 4 employees in performing gardening tasks for the maintenance, upkeep, and development of the cemetery grounds
  • Organizing and scheduling work for the maintenance, upkeep, and development of the cemetery grounds, as well as actively supporting the Cemetery Director in achieving maintenance and development goals
  • Performing gardening tasks on trees, shrubs, and lawns
  • Carrying out special maintenance measures (such as waste removal, path construction, and infrastructure maintenance)
  • Operating, managing, and maintaining machinery, equipment, and vehicles
  • Conducting burials, including opening and closing graves, and participating in winter maintenance duties.

Your profile:


  • Preferably a gardener with a specialization in cemetery maintenance and extensive gardening knowledge
  • Leadership skills and social competence
  • High level of motivation, reliability,
