Description
The ThyssenLesezeit is a funding program specifically designed for highly involved members of the academic system.

It supports researchers who wish to return to teaching and research after holding positions such as rector, dean, or leading a large research project or consortium.

It also promotes the development of young scholars.

The ThyssenLesezeit provides a six-month leave of absence after completing administrative duties, allowing for a focused return to research and intensive review of relevant literature in their field.

During this time, the Fritz Thyssen Foundation finances a substitute professorship. The ThyssenLesezeit is awarded once a year to professors in the humanities and social sciences at German universities. The selection is made by a jury led by Prof. Christoph Markschies and including Prof. Jens Beckert, Prof. Julika Griem, Prof. Christoph Möllers, and Prof. Peter Strohschneider.
