Duties:

The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises and assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, and overseeing the Clinical and Administrative operations of the HUD-VASH program.
  • Provide direct supervision to Social Workers.
  • Assure the Staff whom they supervise are aware of, adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards, State licensure standards, and VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) expectations.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishments of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies.
  • Provides orientation and ongoing training to subordinate staff and takes responsibility for providing opportunities to help staff updated their clinical practice skills and acquire new knowledge in contemporary treatment modalities.
  • Set priorities, make assignments according to capabilities of employees, and oversee personnel management functions of staff, and clearly communicates them through the formal employee performance management system.
  • He/she receives and disseminates social work practice and resource information to social workers at the facility.
  • Evaluates subordinate's performance and offers instruction, advice, or counseling on clinical and administrative matters.
  • Monitors compliance with guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice, and service delivery.
  • Plans or participates in planning for coverage in the area of responsibility. The Supervisory Social Worker also plans for staffing and space needs.

Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Basic Requirements:

Grade Determinations:
In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met for this position.

Supervisory Social Worker, GS-13
-
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
(a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
- (b) Skill in a range of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.
- (c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services by supervised social workers.
- (d) Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion.
- (e) Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service.
- (f) Ability to provide staff training and development.
