Our Profile:

Ensuring climate-friendly and sustainable mobility of people and goods requires a strong growth in rail transport. However, many sections and nodes are already heavily congested. Therefore, the railway infrastructure must be optimally utilized, upgraded and expanded. The operation can be improved through innovative and efficient signaling and safety technology, meeting the highest safety requirements. The ongoing digitization and automation of railway operations also present new questions and demands for signaling and safety systems.

The Transport Science Institute at RWTH Aachen University has a railway technical teaching and testing facility. We work and research on the development of future-oriented systems and methods for controlling and securing rail transport. We are looking for you to strengthen our team in the field of railway safety technology.


Your Profile:


  • Successfully completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in electrical engineering or information technology, or equivalent
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and with a scientific approach
  • Interest in current safetyrelated issues

Your Tasks:


  • Working on research projects in the field of railway safety technology
  • Further development of our railway technical teaching and testing facility
  • Conducting and supervising courses
  • Supervising final theses
