TxDOT's Maintenance Division is seeking a Pavement Engineering Specialist II-IV for the Pavement Preservation Branch As a Pavement Engineering Specialist, you will be working with industry experts supporting nondestructive automated pavement evaluation equipment.

- B21: $51,278 $82,901This position is for Pavement Engr Spec II, III or IV. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.
Minimum Salary: 45,244.00
Maximum Salary: 78,953.00

Position Description
Pavement Engr Spec II
Designs, develops and/or operates automated pavement measurement systems and subsystems. Work may require extensive travel for data collection activities. Work requires contact with other governmental agencies. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Pavement Engr Spec III
Participates in and may oversee design, development, operation and/or maintenance of automated pavement measurement systems and subsystems. Work requires contact with other governmental agencies. Work requires travel and may require extensive travel for data collection activities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Pavement Engr Spec IV
Participates in and oversees design, development, operation and/or maintenance of automated pavement measurement systems and subsystems. Serves as project leader and may serve as a lead worker for a group of technical employees. Work requires contact with other governmental agencies. Work requires travel and may require extensive travel for data collection activities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
Pavement Engr Spec II:
- Assists in data processing and compilation.
- Maintains parts and pavement data measurement equipment inventory.
- Participates in the design, fabrication, and procurement of automated data measurement equipment.
- Performs data analysis to evaluate equipment.
- Processes collected data in preparation for analysis.
- Prepares and makes presentations.
- Troubleshoots, repairs and calibrates electronic, electrical and mechanical automated pavement Measurement equipment subsystems.
- Writes equipment operation manuals and develops equipment/system specifications.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Pavement Engr Spec III:
All of the above and
- Assists with or oversees the acquisition of automated pavement measurement vehicles and equipment
- Coordinates and schedules statewide or district wide data measurement and collection activities, including research projects, load zoning, forensic investigations and pavement evaluation/design projects.
